Joshua told some people to run to Achan's tent, where they found the silver, the gold, and the robe. 23 They brought them back and put them in front of the sacred chest, so Joshua and the rest of the Israelites could see them. 24 Then everyone took Achan and the things he had stolen to Trouble Valley.[f] They also took along his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys, and sheep, his tent, and everything else that belonged to him.

In medieval Christian art, a portable shrine was a sacred object often inspired by an actual place of worship, be it a basilica or a church. They functioned as part of Christian religious practice outside of the church. Portable shrines served as a gateway for Christians to communicate with the Divine or pay devotion to a particular saint, Christ, or the Virgin Mother Mary.

For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.Romans 10:13-17 (KJV) Let's recognise and thank Garry for all he does for us. FAITH Faith: Read Hebrews chapter 11. It tells us that Christ Jesus is better than anything any other religion has to offer. One topic the book speaks to most extensively is faith. Paul wanted the readers to hold fast to their commitment to God no matter what came their way. Faith in Christ was the foundation for this level of commitment. In this get-back-to-basics book, Paul wrote with the purpose of clarifying that only Christ, not sacred traditions or new ideas, was to be the center of a life of faith. According to Hebrews 11, faith is believing that God exists, that He rewards those who seek Him and that we can place hope in Him because His promises will always be true. After Paul defines faith, he puts flesh on it in ways that both the intended readers and Christians today can look to to understand how to live an authentic life of faith. There are two Ordinary Time periods in the Methodist liturgical year, the weeks after Epiphany and Kingdomtide, and the weeks after Pentecost. The Christian year focuses upon two major periods in the life of Christ: Christmas (Advent-Christmas-Epiphany) and Easter (Lent-Easter-Pentecost). Ordinary Time follows each period. The word "ordinary" does not mean "routine" or "not special," but refers to the "ordinal numbers" (first, second, third, etc.) used to count the Sundays (such as the Third Sunday after Epiphany). This term comes from the Latin ordinalis, meaning "numbered" or "ordered," and tempus ordinarium, "measured time."The first period of Ordinary Time, called the Season after Epiphany, begins on Epiphany Day and ends on the day before Ash Wednesday (the beginning of Lent). The central theme of this season is the calling of disciples and the early ministry of Jesus. The second period of Ordinary Time, the Season after Pentecost, follows the Easter period. It begins the day after Pentecost and continues to Advent. The purpose of this season is to support new disciples and the whole congregation in living out the gifts and callings discerned during the Easter Season and commissioned on the Day of Pentecost.Every year, Christians experience the contrast between the central seasons of Christmas and Easter, and the in-between times, where we see, speak about, and join God's ongoing work in the world. We thus experience two regular periods of preparation, celebration and action in ministry each year, with the Ordinary Times as the primary periods of action. The Doctrine of Justification Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.Psalm 143:10 (KJV) It's not the Will of God if it goes against the Word of God! Don't be deceived, don't try to justify doing something that is against God's perfect will.Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!Isaiah 5:20 (KJV) Grace United Methodist Church 7450 Three Notch Road Mobile, AL 36619 (251) 661-4951
The tent itself was a fairly elaborate affair -- compared to modern-day camping tents, at least. It was designed to be grand enough to be the portable earthly dwelling place of Yahweh. Assuming that a cubit (the measurement from the elbow to the finger tips) is about 18 inches, the dimensions of the tabernacle were 45 feet long, 15 feet wide, and 15 feet high (13.7 m. x 4.5 m. x 4.5 m.; Exodus 26:15-30). It was divided into two rooms -- the Holy of Holies, where the ark was kept (the inner sanctum, which was a 15 foot cube), and the Holy Place, where the priests tended the table of showbread, the lampstand, and the altar of incense. The tabernacle seems to have been constructed of a series of acacia-wood8] frames9 set side by side, covered with gold leaf, set into silver bases. The tabernacle was draped with four separate coverings, made in panels and fastened together with gold and bronze clasps. From the inside out they were: 2ff7e9595c
