Ashokamitran (born September 22, 1931) is an Indian writer regarded one of the most influential figures in post-independent Tamil literature. He began his literary career with the prize winning play "Anbin Parisu", followed by many short stories, novellas and novels. A distinguished essayist and critic, he is the editor of the literary journal "Kanaiyaazhi". He has written over 200 short stories, eight novels, some 15 novellas besides other prose writings. Most of his works have also been translated into English.

Ashokamitran's work told volumes worth of content in the shortest form possible. He was a firm believer in the fact that times are changing, people have lesser time to consume art. Thus, he wrote short stories or novellas; never elaborate texts. What I have tried to do is keep that sentiment of his in mind and made a short film that feels like a full-length feature.
